ADAS functions in cars usually cost thousands of dollars in luxury cars. Toyota announced that it will provide advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) at the cheapest price in the industry.

Toyota will provide automatic braking, lane departure warning and other safety features in the compact model at a price of $300, called Safety Sense C. A more advanced version of the medium and large models is priced at $500 and is called TSS P. Lexus ADAS kit will be the most advanced price ranging from 500 US dollars to 635 US dollars, named Lexus Security System.

The new package pricing for the RAV4 hybrid and Lexus RX will debut at the New York Auto Show.

The Compact Mode Safety Sense C uses a camera and lidar as its pre-collision system, with collision warning and automatic braking, lane departure warning and automatic high beams.

Toyota Safety Sense P uses a camera and millimeter-wave radar, and has all the functions of Safety Sense C, as well as a pedestrian pre-collision system (warning, auxiliary braking and automatic braking) and dynamic radar cruise control.

The Lexus safety system integrates the Pre-Collision System (PCS), Lane Departure Alert (LDA) and Automatic High Beam (AHB) to help ensure enhanced forward vision when driving at night. The Lexus system uses millimeter wave radar with a camera. Other features include pedestrian pre-collision system and dynamic radar cruise control.

Ford recently announced advanced ADAS technology to prevent speeding, prevent collisions with pedestrians, and better steer under certain conditions. It also provides anti-slip function.

Toyota may charge lower fees for ADAS features, but in general, we found that the overall price of comparable cars on TrueCar is cheaper than Toyota.
